After months of rumors and leaks, it has finally been confirmed that Battlefield 6 will include a Battle Royale mode in a move that reflects the series’ move to expand into modern competitive modes of play.
In a social media post, Kevin Johnson, global community manager for the Battlefield series, announced that Battle Royale will soon arrive on Battlefield Labs, the developer’s beta platform, in the first official step towards releasing the new mode to the public.
The official announcement was accompanied by a short teaser trailer released by EA that showed scenes of chaotic battles and huge explosions, reinforcing the impression that the new mode will retain the essence of the Battlefield experience known for strategic depth and large-scale confrontations, but this time in a competitive Battle Royale format.
It is noteworthy that the series previously experimented with Battle Royale in Battlefield V in 2019 through the Firestorm mode, but it did not achieve the desired popularity and was gradually ignored, especially after the great success of the Warzone mode in the Call of Duty series.
But current indications suggest a completely different experience in Battlefield 6, as previous leaks stated that the new Battle Royale mode will take place in a map located in California, and players will be introduced via CH-47 Chinook aircraft, which are heavy military transport planes. The data also showed a shrinking ring that gradually closes the battlefield, made of a mysterious material known as NXC, hinting at sci-fi elements or advanced technologies in the design of the mode.
While the existence of the mode has been confirmed and will soon be tested, EA has not clarified whether Battle Royale will be released simultaneously with the game’s October 10, 2025 release, or later as part of a seasonal update or standalone expansion.
