During Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2025, a new gameplay trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4, the latest installment in the storied series developed by Team Ninja in collaboration with PlatinumGames, was revealed.
The game will introduce for the first time two main protagonists Yakumo, a new character designed to make the series easier for new players to experience and Ryu Hayabusa, a classic hero who returns to satisfy fans of the previous installments.
Although most of the footage shown focused on Yakumo, the developers confirmed that Ryu will also be present in the story.
The story picks up directly from the events of Part 3, presenting players with new challenges in a mix of fast-paced combat, dynamic action, and the signature fighting skills that the series is known for.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is set to release on October 21, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass, giving players the opportunity to experience the game directly at no additional cost to subscribers.
With this announcement, excitement is building for the return of one of Japan’s action game icons, and anticipation is high for its blend of originality and novelty.
