At Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, Konami presented a new trailer for the upcoming horror game Silent Hill f, the latest major installment in the series. As expected, the presentation was a combination of unsettling visual beauty and scenes that leave a deep psychological impact on viewers.
The trailer focused on the protagonist Hinako, whose story begins with a murder scene, accompanied by the sound of the police in the background, before a mysterious stranger appears and declares his intention to steal her soul. The clip then shows fight footage against deformed forms, followed by shocking dialog that tells Hinako that she will be killed by her own hands and that it’s time to say goodbye, with a final invitation to “just die.”
The game represents a major departure from the Silent Hill 2 Remake in terms of atmosphere and setting. While the previous installments maintained a traditional Western horror theme, Silent Hill f takes us to Japan with a new environment that reflects a mix of Eastern culture and psychological horror.
The new show opens up a debate about the future of Silent Hill: does the series need such a radical change to survive and evolve, or would it have been better to stick to its classic roots?
