On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Rayman series, Ubisoft announced via a new video on the series’ official account that its Montpellier and Milan studios are currently working on the future of Rayman, but emphasized that it will take time to announce details.
According to a report, Remake is being developed for Rayman under the codename Steambot, with a release targeted for late 2026. Sources close to the project have confirmed that the development process is going very well.
And it’s not just the remake, Ubisoft plans to revitalize the entire series with Rayman 4. But the fate of this project depends on the commercial and critical success of the Steambot remake.
If the publisher sticks to its plan, Rayman will be added to a huge list of games expected to be released between 2026 and 2027 after a lull in 2025 due to the company’s focus on quality. The list includes:
- Project Ovr: Ghost Recon sequel
- Project Hexe: The next major installment of Assassin’s Creed
- Project North: Splinter Cell remake
- Project Blackbird: Far Cry remake
- Project Maverick: Extraction-style Far Cry game (may be canceled)
- Project Rewind: Prince of Persia remake
- Project Alterra: An Animal Crossing-like social game
- Project Crest: Extraction shooter set in a World War II setting
- Beyond Good and Evil 2: Still in development
The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake (Project Obsidian) and Assassin’s Creed Multiplayer (Project Invictus) still have no exact date. After 2027, the company is gearing up to work on The Division 3, a new installment of The Crew, and other experiences tied to the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six universe.
With this, we could see a strong return of Rayman in a very busy period for Ubisoft’s upcoming releases.
