As the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 draws closer, Treyarch has been ramping up the suspense by revealing small hints about the game’s modes. While we already knew there were plans to bring back classic maps from Multiplayer, it’s now the turn of Zombies, where we have the strongest hint yet that the iconic Tranzit map from Black Ops 2 will return.
During a Call of Duty Instagram livestream on September 15, a short clip, captured by DETONATED, featured music very familiar to fans of the series: It’s the loading screen music for Black Ops 2’s Tranzit map. The clip is a full minute of unmistakable musical atmosphere for zombie fans.
It has not been confirmed whether Tranzit will be the first zombie map in Black Ops 7 or just part of the content coming later. The hint reinforces expectations that the map will return with graphical improvements and a smoother gameplay experience thanks to the power of modern hardware.
The move comes after years of players demanding the return of the map, which is one of the most controversial experiences in the history of the zombie mode.
Will we finally get an upgraded version of Tranzit that utilizes the capabilities of the current generation to rectify past issues such as heavy fog and long commutes?
Whatever the answer, Black Ops 7’s zombie season looks set to be very different and rekindle old memories for an entire generation of players.
