Ever since Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale mode was announced, players have been wondering how much of the mode will rely on the series’ iconic destruction mechanics. Today, the confirmation came from game producer David Serland in response to a question on XboxLive, where he clarified that the destruction systems in Multiplayer and Battle Royale are fully unified.
Serland emphasized that demolitions do not leave a random void, but rather produce carefully designed rubble that reflects the nature of the materials and buildings that have been destroyed, adding that the level of damage varies according to the type of construction and materials, whether wooden, concrete or metal.
The producer also pointed out that destroying everything is not a good idea, noting that the studio learned from previous experiences that tactical destruction is more difficult to execute, but it gives players a more clear and balanced experience. He explained that the destruction is adjusted according to the type of material and the nature of the damage, for example, explosions are different from damage caused by bullets or kinetic forces.
The team has been fine-tuning the balance since the open beta, so that the destruction occurs consistently in normal play, while at the same time keeping each round varied and not turning into a completely empty arena.
In addition to these details, the developers also confirmed that Battlefield 6 will include a cross-platform, console-only multiplayer mode, with major changes to the trophy system beyond what we saw in the open beta.
These announcements raise expectations for Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale mode, which looks set to offer a fully integrated multiplayer experience, while maintaining the series’ identity of dynamic destruction systems.
