Invercity Games Works has announced its new game Project Retrograde, a story-driven survival action experience with a strong Resident Evil imprint, and we got the first official gameplay trailer via IGN.
The game puts the player in the role of a bounty hunter who embarks on a journey through mysterious ruins to uncover the secrets of the apocalypse. The gameplay combines hand-to-hand combat and gunfu with elements of exploration and resource gathering to ensure survival.
From the first demo, it was clear that the game was inspired by the Resident Evil identity: Zombie monsters, a protagonist who looks like Leon Kennedy, a camera close to Resident Evil 4’s style, and even an enemy that looks like a clone of John Wick with a direct reference to his famous phrase.
But the game doesn’t stop at imitation, introducing innovative ideas such as the ability to shoot an axe in the air and pick it up or face enemies chasing the player using ladders, adding a dynamic dimension to the gameplay.
While a release date has yet to be set, Project Retrograde looks set to deliver an exciting experience that combines the legacy of classic horror games with some new touches that could give it a distinctive personality if developed with quality.
