Just three months before its original release date, IO Interactive has announced that the highly anticipated action game 007 First Light has been delayed by two months, with a new release date of May 27, 2026 instead of March 27.
The game, which represents a new vision for the world of James Bond, tells the story of the famous agent’s beginnings in his first mission before obtaining the title 007 in a global adventure inspired by the classic novels of the series, with an impressive cast, including international artist Lenny Kravitz, making the project one of the most anticipated titles of 2026.
In an official statement published through the game’s account on the X platform, the studio explained that the decision to postpone the delay came in order to improve overall performance and refine technical details, stressing at the same time that the game is fully playable from start to finish and that the additional two months will be invested to ensure that the experience is presented in the best possible way.
The first impressions of the gameplay that emerged during the State of Play presentation raised some reservations among players, especially regarding the frame rate and the quality of some visuals, and it seems that this delay is directly aimed at addressing these observations before the official launch.
Although the game is out of the spring window, moving it to the summer of 2026 may give it a better chance to appear in a stronger technical state and a successful start to the summer release season, especially with the expectations attached to the first original James Bond experience developed by IO Interactive.
