The developers of Ghost of Yotei have confirmed that the upcoming game will abandon the popular “battle stance” system that was part of Ghost of Tsushima that was an integral part of Ghost of Tsushima and will instead rely on a variety of weapons as a way to add depth to the gameplay.
Creative director Nate Fox explained in an interview with GamesRadar that each weapon in the game will fulfill a unique role, such as spears that can deflect enemies and the kusarigama weapon to counter groups of enemies. He also noted that there is a disarming mechanic that may sometimes force players to use enemy weapons.
Fox also revealed that Atsu’s companion wolf will play an important role in combat and exploration, but he is not completely dependent on the player, appearing at times and disappearing at other times depending on the nature of the missions.
It is worth noting that the game will also include firearms, but they are not as effective as hand-to-hand combat weapons and depend on the right time to use them.
