AdHoc’s late October release, Dispatch, has been one of the most successful indie games of the year, with the studio announcing that the game has sold more than two million copies in a very short period of time.
Dispatch revolves around Robert, a retired superhero who now works a desk job managing the operations of a group of “reformed villains” in Los Angeles. With the background of the team of former Telltale Games members, the game offers an interactive narrative style that relies on choices, consequences, and branching events, making it an instant hit from day one.
Despite releasing only the first two episodes, Dispatch became the best-selling game on Steam in record time before surpassing the 1 million copies mark in just 10 days.
In a new post, the studio confirmed that the game has officially reached 2 million copies sold, and to celebrate, art director Derek Stratton posted a new drawing of the beloved Beef character. The scene looked a bit sad, especially since episodes 7 and 8 were the last episodes of Season 1, but the team expressed their gratitude for the great support they received during that time.
The game is currently only available on PC and PS5, with no plans announced for Xbox Series X|S or Switch 2.
As for Season 2, although it has not been officially revealed yet, the team has confirmed that they strongly desire to return to the Dispatch universe in the future. Given the development time of Season 1 and the game’s overwhelming success and nomination for a game award, we will likely have to wait a while before we see Z-Team again, but all indications are positive.
