A year after the first reveal of its new project, Liquid Swords, the studio founded by Christopher Sundberg, creator of the Just Cause and Mad Max series, returned to share a short teaser trailer for its upcoming project, but this clip was enough to spark speculation among gamers about what the game is about.
As soon as the trailer was posted on the studio’s official channels, players started asking questions about the nature of the project, some going so far as to assume that it is a remaster of GTA 4, especially after the famous leaker Tez2 jokingly commented:
Liquid Swords seems to be bringing us GTA 4 all over again.
Well-known activist Shinobi commented on one of the replies, emphasizing:
I don’t know exactly what the game is, all I know is that it’s an open-world game set in a city full of crime.
Despite the controversy, Christopher Sundberg previously emphasized that his goal is to create an entirely new experience inspired by GTA and Mafia without being a copy of any previous game. He added that the project is designed for the next generation of devices with a great emphasis on realistic physics and dynamic destruction of environments, elements that characterized his previous work in Just Cause.
So far there is no official information about the name of the game or the engine used, but the studio’s recent post hinted that a new announcement is coming soon, and it may be during The Game Awards in December, and according to previous statements, the game was still in the early stages of development a year ago, making its first public appearance this winter a very strong possibility.
Do you think the Liquid Swords project will be a real competitor to the next GTA? Or are we in front of a completely new experience with a different style?
