Good news for the Steam community, as it has been officially confirmed that Battlefield 6 will no longer require an EA app installation to play on the platform. All a player needs is an EA account.
During the recent event to reveal Battlefield 6’s multiplayer mode, we got a slew of new details, including a release date of October 10, 2025, nine dedicated multiplayer maps, and the announcement of a beta that will take place this month.
But one of the most notable pieces of news came in the game’s FAQ section, where it was clarified that no EA app installation is required to play the game on Steam while players who purchase the game via the Epic Games Store will need an EA account as well as the EA app to play the game.
Additional details from the FAQ page:
– There are no plans to release the game on Nintendo Switch 2 at this time.
– The game will support performance and quality optimization modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
– Additional optimizations will be provided specifically for the PS5 Pro platform.
– The Javelin Anticheat system is used to combat cheating and provide a fair gaming experience.
– A more realistic approach to design
The developers have also indicated that the game will not include unrealistic cosmetic elements or exaggerated skins, reflecting a more serious approach to delivering a traditional and realistic Battlefield experience.
