EA and DICE today released a new realistic trailer for Battlefield 6 that not only showcases the game’s combat, but also sends a clear satirical message to its direct competitor, Call of Duty.
The trailer begins with a cinematic scene featuring celebrities such as Zac Efron, basketball player Jimmy Butler, singer Morgan Wallen, and fighter Paddy Pimblett walking slowly in military uniforms before Efron announces: “We’re here to do one thing and one thing only. But the team is blown up by a missile before he can finish the sentence.
Unidentified soldiers emerge from the smoke and one of them asks: ” Who are they?” to which the other replies: It doesn’t matter. Intense battle scenes begin, emphasizing the destruction of the environment, weapons, and tactical tools within the game.
It is clear that this parody targets the Call of Duty series, which has been used for more than a decade to use celebrities in its promotional ads, and this move comes in conjunction with Activision’s recent attempts to reintroduce the game in a more authentic form and even made visual adjustments to some of the contents of Black Ops 7 Vault Edition after feedback from the community.
With this announcement, it seems that the media confrontation between Battlefield and Call of Duty is renewed in a year that is expected to witness fierce competition between the two big titles, and while DICE seeks to emphasize the authentic military identity of its series, Activision is trying to regain the trust of players through tangible changes in its offerings and content.
Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
