More than 18 years after its original release, Bully returns with an unofficial remake called Bully Online, which offers an action-packed multiplayer experience within the game’s popular school world.
Although the name might suggest otherwise, Bully Online is not an official Rockstar game, but rather a modified project developed by a team led by YouTuber SWEGTA, one of the most prominent content creators specializing in Rockstar games.
In the latest clip on his channel, SWEGTA revealed the first official presentation of the project, which he said has been in development for a very long time, noting that Take-Two and Rockstar have not objected to the project so far.
The trailer revealed a host of innovative modes and ideas never before seen in the game, including:
- Races using cars and even shopping carts.
- Battles between school gangs.
- Whimsical new mini-games.
- Skateboarding on statues.
- A first-person shooter mode.
The team aims to make the game fully customizable and open to creativity with crowdfunding support via Ko-Fi to fund development.
SWEGTA said in the video:
“A lot of what we thought was impossible a few years ago is now possible including the creation of an online mode. We have an official server for Bully Online and will be opening it to the public soon.
Whether or not Rockstar adopts the project, Bully Online proves that the title still has a loyal fanbase that has been waiting for its official return for years.
Would you like to see Bully Online officially released by Rockstar? Do you see it as an opportunity to revitalize the series?
