As information about Resident Evil Requiem grows, from the fact that its development began before Village to the abandonment of the multiplayer mode, Capcom’s clear expectations about how Part 9 of the series will perform in terms of sales are now emerging.
In a Q&A session as part of the company’s recent financial report, Capcom was asked about its commercial expectations for Resident Evil Requiem and the company answered confidently:
The game has been widely praised at various shows… and we aim to exceed the initial performance of Resident Evil Village in terms of sales.
Village was one of the most successful installments in the series in recent years and surpassing it would be a major achievement that emphasizes Requiem’s strength as a new milestone in the series’ history.
Capcom also noted that the mere reveal of Requiem led to a clear spike in sales of previous installments, describing this spike as: Higher than our initial expectations, reflecting the power of the Resident Evil brand and its ability to re-engage new and old players once a new installment is announced.
In another question, analysts raised the possibility that Requiem could suffer from technical issues similar to those that appeared in Monster Hunter Wilds, but Capcom emphasized that the two games differ in gameplay, technical system architecture and network characteristics, so the company does not anticipate any similar risks, emphasizing that development is on track to ensure a seamless experience across a wide range of computer specifications.
This part has become the talk of the gaming community thanks to the return of the series to survival horror and the constant rumors about the appearance of Leon Kennedy, with these strong sales expectations, it seems that Capcom is betting on Requiem as one of its biggest releases in years.
