Employees from Sandfall Interactive have confirmed that their game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, released on April 24, has sold more than 4.4 million copies to date.
During a video interview with French streamer Antoine Daniel, marketing and release producer Benjamin Dimanche, character designer Amandine Marest, and lead programmer Florian Torres revealed the new figure.
When asked about the latest sales news, Torres cautiously replied:“Officially…” only to be interrupted by Marest:“4.4 million.” After shared laughter, Torres added:“Officially, 3.3 million, but it’s 4.4 million.“
Previous official figures indicated that 3.3 million copies were sold in just 33 days, which in itself was an impressive feat. But the new figure confirms the game’s continued commercial momentum, despite being released in the same period as the relaunch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
The game is available on PC and consoles and has been available on Xbox Game Pass since day one.
Recently, the studio released Update 1.4.0, which added a battle replay feature along with significant visual improvements, gameplay tweaks, and fixes to technical issues.
The name Clair Obscur not only refers to this release, but also marks the beginning of an entire series that the French studio is working on, signaling a long-term future for this new brand in the RPG world.
