According to a new report from What’s On Netflix, the platform is working on an animated series based on the world of Crash Bandicoot in collaboration with WildBrain, the team behind the successful Sonic Prime series.
Although no official announcement has been made yet, the report confirms that the project is already in development, but details about the voice cast or show date are still vague. WildBrain is behind a number of well-known works such as Johnny Test, The Snoopy Show, and Carmen Sandiego, which enhances the chances of success for Crash’s new project.
This is not the first time a Crash Bandicoot series has been considered. In 1997, Universal Animation Studios created experimental opening and closing segments with the aim of turning the game into a TV series, but the project was never completed. Later, Crash made a fleeting appearance in the Skylanders Academy series on Netflix, voiced by Rhys Darby.
After the success of the Super Mario Bros. and Sonik the Hedgehog movies, it seems like it’s time for Crash to enter the major TV adaptation race, and the weird and colorful world he presents could be translated into a fun, action-packed animated experience.
Who knows, maybe this will open the door for other series like Spyro or Banjo-Kazooie to find their share of fame again. Do you want the next Crash Bandicoot series to be in modern 3D or a classic cartoon style?
