The ongoing case between Nintendo and Pocketpair over patent infringement by Palworld has a new twist, as veteran Japanese designer Yoshiki Okamoto (who previously worked at Capcom on such notable games as Street Fighter 2 and Resident Evil) commented on the case in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
He characterized the game as having crossed a line that should not be crossed, arguing that its acceptance by gamers would set a dangerous precedent and asking the public to Please don’t buy Palworld. He emphasized that buying the game means supporting it even though it is the subject of a lawsuit.
He noted that the game may become officially acceptable if a settlement is reached with Nintendo, but he believes it is not acceptable at this time.
Okamoto hinted that Pocketpair may have reached an understanding with Nintendo given the announcement of the 1.0 version of the game, but stressed that he has no official confirmation.
Meanwhile, Palworld continues to expand its popularity with announcements of new collaborations with games like Ultrakill and Once Human.
