In a move that has sparked widespread controversy among gamers, it appears that EA has actually started removing maps based on or inspired by Call of Duty games within Battlefield 6’s Portal mode.
According to reports from the player community, a number of users received warning emails from EA after creating maps that mimic famous maps from the Call of Duty series, and one of these cases included a map called Shipment first test with the description Shipment 2019 Edition, a clear reference to the famous Shipment map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The warning message from EA made it clear that the company considers this type of content inappropriate because it includes references to third-party products within Battlefield 6.
The mail also states that the account can still play, but any future violations may result in restrictions such as temporary suspension or permanent suspension of the account from accessing EA games and services.
The move has angered some gamers, who argue that Battlefield’s Portal feature was originally designed to give users the creative freedom to build experiences inspired by classic games, including popular shooters.
On the other hand, there are those who believe that EA is trying to protect its intellectual property rights and avoid any potential legal issues with other companies such as Activision Blizzard.

So far, neither EA nor Battlefield Studios has made an official comment on whether it will remove all maps inspired by other games or if the actions are limited to Call of Duty maps.
While Portal was designed to give players unprecedented freedom to build their own experiences, legal restrictions impose a different reality when these creations intersect with the rights of other companies.
