In a new press release, Embracer Group confirmed the continuation of its extensive restructuring plan by selling its Arc Games and Cryptic Studios studios to Project Golden Arc, Inc. for net cash proceeds of approximately $30 million. Despite the sale, Embracer will retain the publishing rights to the Remnant series, which currently falls under Arc Games.
The company explained in its statement that this transaction comes as part of its quest to focus on strategic assets and core intellectual property while enhancing profitability and improving free cash flow,a statement that reflects the policy that Embracer has adopted since the collapse of the massive $2 billion investment deal about a year and a half ago, an event that pushed the company into a long series of drastic decisions.
Since then, Embracer has laid off thousands of employees, halted nearly 100 projects, and sold some of its biggest studios, including Saber Interactive for $500 million and Gearbox for $460 million.
The latest deal will transfer ownership of Arc Games and Cryptic Studios entirely to Project Golden Arc, an entity led by Arc’s own management team, signaling an orderly and thoughtful transition:
“This transaction supports our core priorities by strengthening our focus on strategic assets and core intellectual property while improving profitability and cash flow. It also allows Fellowship, a game developed by a talented external team in Stockholm, to find a suitable home within Coffee Stain Group.
Rogers added his thanks to the Arc and Cryptic teams for their “efforts over the past four years” and wished them success in their new future.
The closing of the deal is still subject to the completion of the usual conditions, but the announcement reopens the question of whether Embracer will continue selling and layoffs through 2026 or whether the company is nearing the end of the biggest restructuring wave in its history.
