While everyone is waiting for the release of GTA 6, GTA 5, in its various versions, is still living in a special moment for the modding community, and in a big move, the developers of FiveM have officially announced support for the GTA 5 Enhanced version with a new tool called Alchemist.
The move means that the FiveM community, which manages thousands of modding servers and popular RP mods, is now able to transition to the optimized version of the game without losing the old assets.
According to the developer’s statement, Alchemist is the first in a series of new tools dedicated to supporting the Enhanced Edition, whose primary function is to convert legacy Legacy assets to be compatible with the Enhanced Edition, fix incompatible formats caused by legacy tools, optimize existing assets without changing their nature, and support modders, server owners, and content creators
The tool automatically recognizes Legacy files within any folder and converts them to Enhanced format within the new user-defined path.
Conversion features include converting an entire folder with one click, recognizing Legacy assets within subfolders, copying scripts and configuration files intact, and keeping sensitive interfaces and files untouched
This means a seamless transition without the need to rebuild mods or servers from scratch.
FiveM relies heavily on VR mods, daily life mods, competitive servers, maps and global mods, and since the optimized version offers visual and technical improvements, FiveM receiving official support after Rockstar’s acquisition of the developer in 2023 makes the future of RP and modding more stable.
Meanwhile, Rockstar’s industry is witnessing many developments, most notably the delay of GTA 6 and its impact on big games such as Halo Remake, Gears E-Day, the next installment of Call of Duty, legal cases against the company after recent layoffs, and the inclusion of GTA Online within the benefits of the GTA+ subscription.
