Halo Studios has announced the appointment of Angela Hession as Head of Studio Office in a move that reflects the growing shift towards AI within the Xbox development environment.
Angela has more than a decade of experience within Microsoft in leadership roles, most notably as Global Head of Game Security and Trust, a critical position directly related to the protection of gamers and digital communities within the Xbox ecosystem.
Interestingly, Angela Hession also owns an AI consulting service that specializes in helping companies integrate AI strategies into gaming, technology and commerce, and multiple sources indicate that this expertise was a key factor in her selection for the new position.
This comes at a particularly sensitive time as Xbox has made AI workflows mandatory for all employees, following a wave of layoffs earlier in the year as part of a comprehensive restructuring of development and management teams.
The move towards AI is not limited to the managerial level, as reports indicate that some Halo Studios employees are already using AI-powered automation tools to speed up development and improve time and resource management within the studio.
This is supported by additional evidence as a number of the studio’s employees have earned specialized certifications in generative AI covering areas such as large language models, project management automation, and creative and technical workflow optimization.
This appointment reflects a clear strategic direction within Microsoft and Xbox towards integrating AI more deeply into the games industry, not just as a technical tool but as a key element in decision-making, team management, and accelerating production.
With Angela Hession at the helm, Halo Studios seems to be heading towards a new phase of development that could bring fundamental changes in the way the series’ games are made in the future, based on a combination of managerial expertise and modern intelligent technologies.
