With Helldivers 2’s recent success, both with its launch on Xbox Series X|S and its return to record-breaking concurrent player numbers on Steam, it seems that the development team is considering expanding the co-op options even further.
In a discussion on the game’s official server via Discord, a player asked a question about the possibility of supporting split-screen multiplayer. The response came from Arrowhead’s CEO, who explained that the feature is “technically possible,” but not yet confirmed, and that the team has put it on its list of possible future features.
While split-screen has fallen out of favor in recent years in favor of online co-op play, Helldivers 2 fans think it could be a perfect addition, especially since the game focuses on a PvE experience, making local play with friends more enjoyable and in keeping with the game’s atmosphere.
As of now, there is no official confirmation that the feature is coming, but its inclusion in the investigation plan is a positive sign.
Helldivers 2 recently received a new Warbond pack inspired by HALO ODST, which has players even more excited to return to the battlefield.
