At the Beyond the Strand event, we finally got an extended look at Project OD (formerly known as Overdose), the upcoming Xbox exclusive title by Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions team.
The new clip revealed footage with stunning graphical realism as a character played by actress Sophia Lillis tries to survive inside her apartment, with constant knocking on the door and lighting candles, the scene ends with a terrifying encounter with a mysterious character and finally the official title: OD: Knock along with a cast that also includes Hunter Schafer.
Besides Kojima, film director Jordan Peele, known for the horror films Get Out and Us, joins the project and according to details, OD is not just one project but several sub-projects with Kojima leading OD: Knock while Peele is working on another project that has yet to be revealed.
This is not Kojima’s first foray into the horror genre, he previously delivered the famous P.T. experience that was a precursor to Silent Hills before it was canceled and is still considered one of the scariest experiences in gaming history, and now it seems that OD: Knock will be his first full horror project, which raises expectations considerably.
No release date has been set yet, but it’s clear that Kojima plans to deliver an experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional video games, combining psychological horror, cinematic direction, and interactive innovation.
