Details on Hogwarts Legacy Part 2 are still limited, but a new job posting has opened the door to speculation about a long-awaited addition. As spotted by GameRant, a vacancy at Avalanche Software suggests that the team may be working on an online multiplayer structure for the upcoming title.
The ad is for the position of Senior Software Engineer and states that the new joiner will be working with the team behind the open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy and more importantly, the role description explicitly mentions working on an Online Multiplayer RPG, a characterization that was not present in Part 1.
In the requirements section, the job description outlines responsibilities that include designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure backend services such as player data storage, matchmaking systems, and server infrastructure, which are clear indicators of an integrated online experience and not just a superficial addition.
However, several questions remain unanswered, such as whether the announcement is actually for Hogwarts Legacy 2 or another project Avalanche is working on, and if it is for Legacy 2, will multiplayer be an integral part of the experience from start to finish or limited to specific modes such as Quidditch or special cooperative activities?
Hogwarts Legacy has been a huge success, surpassing 40 million copies sold across all platforms, and this year it received official support for modifications, which enhances the chances of expanding the experience in the future. In light of this success, it seems logical that the developers will take advantage of Part 2 to add features that could not be offered previously, especially online multiplayer.
Until an official confirmation, these indicators remain interesting and suggest that Hogwarts Legacy 2 could represent a quantum leap for the series, especially if the online component is implemented in a balanced way that preserves the spirit of the individual experience that players have come to love.
