After a long silence, creative director Ken Levine gave a new update on Judas, confirming that the studio will adopt the method of frequent small updates instead of the long wait between trailers, and the goal is to keep players up to date with the game’s developments while the team focuses on its completion.
Unlike BioShock or Infinite where the enemy was predetermined, Judas will introduce a new feature called Villainy, which allows the player to decide who will be their main antagonist. The Big 3 can become allies or enemies, depending on the player’s decisions. If they become adversaries, they will gain special abilities to thwart your goals.
The game focuses on relationship-based storytelling, partially inspired by the Nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor. Major characters will seek to gain your trust through bribery, assistance in combat, or even revealing secrets to others. Losing one of them is supposed to make the player feel like they’ve lost a true friend
Unlike Elizabeth in BioShock Infinite, who knew the player well but didn’t know the player as deeply, the Big 3 in Judas will constantly monitor your actions, reacting to your choices in combat, crafting, and even how you interact with others.
While development has progressed and reached important milestones, Levine emphasized that the team doesn’t want to announce a release date that could be delayed, adding:
“Judas won’t be a real game until players get their hands on it, and that day is what we’re all working towards.
