In new statements that reflect the scale of the ambition of his upcoming project, renowned Japanese director Hideo Kojima revealed that he himself is not yet able to define exactly what OD is or whether the project will succeed, these statements came in an interview with Ananweb (quoted by Automaton) where he talked about the unprecedented challenges facing his team while developing the new game under the Xbox Studios umbrella.
Kojima explained that OD is radically different from his previous experiences, such as Deliberate stealth games or delivery games like Death Stranding, which, despite their uniqueness, had familiar systems to help build them, while OD is an attempt to rework the entire service model from scratch, which makes the process very difficult compared to any project he has worked on previously.
The director noted that the recent Knock teaser contains a huge amount of hints and that avid gamers may be able to deduce part of the essence of the game if they analyze the details in depth.
These statements come in conjunction with published information about Eidos Montreal previously in development before its team was asked to relocate to Japan and Kojima’s recent preoccupation with his voice work on Zootopia 2.
OD remains one of the most mysterious and intriguing projects in the industry, especially with Kojima’s insistence on pushing the boundaries of the traditional interactive experience.
