NetEase has revealed the details of the matchmaking system used in Marvel Rivals after increasing criticism from players over the past period, confirming that the system is not based on the controversial EOMM method.
According to the video posted on the Xbox platform, the system takes into account several factors when ranking matches, most notably team composition and competitive points. The latter is calculated by:
– Base Points: Influenced by the outcome of the match, the player’s current points and the opposing team’s average points.
– Performance Points: Reflects your individual contribution, but not only through direct stats, but also according to the nature of your character and role.
The longer you wait, the more the system expands the search to ensure the match starts. When playing in a group, you will be pitted against groups of similar size.
The developers answered the players’ question about the absence of a turn-based system, explaining that its implementation would significantly increase the waiting time. By the same logic, large groups (4-6 players) have been restricted to the higher ranks to avoid imbalancing the competition.
With this clarification, NetEase seeks to assuage the community’s concerns and ensure transparency on how matches are run, especially as new seasons approach and interest in the competitive aspect of the game increases.
