In a surprising yet hilarious move, Warner Bros. Pictures has officially kicked off its awards campaign for A Minecraft Movie in preparation for the 2025 Oscars and Golden Globes.
Released earlier this year, the film is the first live-action adaptation of the popular Minecraft universe and has been a huge hit with audiences thanks to its clever marketing campaigns and online humor.
According to statistics, the movie currently ranks third on the list of the highest-grossing films of 2025 after Lilo & Stitch and Ne Zha 2.

While the film’s chances of a Best Picture or Best Actor nomination may seem slim, some critics believe it has a realistic chance in the Visual Effects and Screenplay categories thanks to the creative way in which the cubic world was transformed into a living experience.
Jack Black’s Best Actor nomination could be one of the biggest surprises, especially after his comedic performance as Steve in the movie, which became the focus of many parodies and memes circulating online.
Some observers suggest that Steve’s Lava Chicken moment in the movie could become one of the funniest moments on the Oscar stage if the movie gets an actual nomination.
With the huge success of the movie, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Minecraft Movie sequel officially began development earlier this month, so will we soon see Minecraft competing with the likes of Dune: Part Three and The Batman 2 in the awards season?
