NetEase released a new trailer for Ananta, an open-world game with a Cel-Shaded graphics style that relies on Gacha mechanics to collect characters and develop abilities. Although the game looks promising in terms of ideas, the movement and movement style has caused widespread controversy due to its obvious similarity to Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2.
The gameplay demos showed a character swinging between skyscrapers using a magic arm, using buildings as springboards, gliding through wings, free-falling, and smoothly navigating the air in a way that is not much different from the Spider-Man series.
Xbox user EvanFilarca shared a short clip of the game and showed that the animation and movement are almost identical to what we saw in Spider-Man 2.
Besides the movement mechanics, Ananta seems to take inspiration from other titles such as GTA across its cities, but the question remains: is this just a tribute to successful games or a direct copy of existing game systems?
