Gearbox released a major update for Borderlands 4 on September 25 in response to players who complained about performance issues and the lack of field of view control on consoles. The update follows a successful launch of the game, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies since release.
PlayStation and Xbox players can finally control their field of view. This feature has been highly requested by the community, with the caveat that raising the field of view too high may result in some performance degradation, and the visibility settings in split-screen mode have been tweaked.
The update brings with it additional content such as weekly activities that include new bosses with stronger abilities and improved rewards, new Wildcard missions with guaranteed legendary replayable item drops, and Maurice’s Black Market periodically changing its contents
Fixes for low frame rate and sudden stuttering issues, fixes for black screens and infinite loading screens, and optimized character and roster loading to reduce lag
The update addressed dozens of issues related to weapons, missions, trophies and character balance, most notably resetting some skills for Harlowe, Amon, Vex and Rafa to work as expected, improving the balance of some weapons such as Hellwalker, Tediore and Order Sniper Rifle, addressing issues with side missions such as Overwriting a Wrong and Talk to Zadra, and extensive visual and audio improvements including in-game animations, effects and music.
The update added UI improvements, new access options, and better support for the cooperative experience.
With these additions, Gearbox seems committed to fixing bugs and expanding the Borderlands 4 experience to make it more stable and content-rich.
