EA and Battlefield Studios have released a new update for Battlefield 6 that targets the phenomenon of Farming or XP farms that have recently proliferated in custom Portal rooms, according to the new update, rooms with bots will receive a 150% completion bonus after the end of each match but will not grant Mastery XP or progress in challenges.
In other words, players can still enjoy matches against the AI, but they will no longer be able to use them to quickly upgrade weapons or complete special missions.
At the launch of Battlefield 6, a large number of players resorted to Portal rooms with bots to gain experience quickly, sparking a debate about whether this behavior was cheating or a legitimate exploitation of the available mechanics.
After an internal review of the data, EA said in an earlier statement:
“We discovered that a significant number of these servers were created specifically to gain experience points, raise stats, and earn medals by defeating bots.
The company added that it understands the players’ motivations but emphasized that this behavior has made it difficult for others to find authentic matches that represent the true Battlefield experience.
EA says the goal is to improve the overall gameplay environment and make it easier to access true teamfighting modes like:
Hardcore Conquest, All-Out Warfare, long matches or creative experiences from the community
As expected, reactions were mixed. While some players considered the update an excellent step and a fair decision, others expressed their dissatisfaction with the difficulty of progression after this change, especially with regard to weapon challenges and unlocking add-ons, but EA reassured players, confirming that new updates to improve the progression system are coming this week.
This decision shows EA’s attempt to strike a delicate balance between preventing exploitation and keeping progression fun as the company seeks to regain the community’s trust after the controversy that accompanied the game’s launch. Despite the current controversy, this move is expected to stabilize the multiplayer experience and improve server quality in the long run, making Battlefield 6 fairer and more competitive for all players.
