Embark Studio has officially launched the Expedition Project window in the ARC Raiders extractive shooter in a move that represents a global reset mechanism for the game but remains optional, unlike what is common in other extractive games.
Completing the Expedition Project allows players to finally leave Speranza after weeks of progress, but it comes at the obvious price of starting from scratch, returning to level one with an empty inventory and no upgraded skills, equipment, or workbenches.
On the other hand, players who finish the Expedition receive some temporary rewards including temporary boosts, a small increase in inventory capacity, a new exclusive skin called Patchwork, and a new cycle that starts immediately.
Interestingly, players can immediately start building the next Expedition convoy immediately after finishing the current one without any waiting period, which means replaying the same stages all over again, collecting resources and preparing for another cycle in a system that resembles a cyclical season.
Some PC gamers have spotted clues as to when the next cycle will take place using a well-known trick of changing the system date while the game is running, causing the internal calendar to show future events, and according to the countdown shown in this way, the next Expedition window is expected to begin on or after February 22.
Although the duration of each Expedition is estimated to be around two months, the developers have previously emphasized that these schedules are subject to change, especially since the current Expedition itself was delayed before its official launch.
Ultimately, the Expedition Project is the heart of the long-term experience in ARC Raiders, combining progression, risk, and rebuilding from scratch, giving players a constant reason to come back and take on the challenge again and again.
