A lengthy 40-minute gameplay clip of Wreckreation, the open-world racing game developed by the studios previously responsible for the popular Burnout series, was recently posted on YouTube. The clip was published on the Flotutu channel and piqued the interest of racing fans with its free driving scenes, dynamic destruction, and fast-paced arcade competitions.
More than 15 years after the last Burnout release, Wreckreation seems to seek to revive the same spirit, action-packed races, devastating crashes, and physics-defying driving skills. The game offers a huge open world that can be freely explored, a building and customization system that allows players to create their own tracks, and a multiplayer mode that allows competition and cooperation at the same time.
The focus here is not on realism but on speed, chaos, and pure fun, just as gamers loved the classic Burnout series.
Despite the excitement, the video revealed some technical issues in the pre-launch version such as car crash bugs, a glitch in the physics of destruction, and a scene where the player is stuck inside a truck after a collision, these issues are likely to be fixed via a Day 1 update at the official launch on October 28.
The release date will be October 28, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S
Wreckreation feels like a true spiritual successor to Burnout, a crazy open-world racing experience full of crashes and destruction that needs some technical polish before launch. Do you think it will bring back the glory of Burnout?
