Since its first announcement in 2008, Beyond Good & Evil 2 has turned into one of the most mysterious and controversial games in the history of the industry, the first version is still classified as an overlooked gem, while Part 2 has become an example of the length of development years until it surpassed the record held by Duke Nukem Forever by many years, and with every silence from Ubisoft, the existential question returns: Does the game still exist at all? It seems that the answer finally came through the recruitment portal.
According to Hitmarker, Ubisoft has opened a job application for a technical sound designer to work on Beyond Good & Evil 2, and the official job description reintroduces the game as it has always been:
An action adventure in a vast alien world based on the new technology of the Voyager engine, with the freedom to explore planets and engage in pirate life both individually and cooperatively.
Interestingly, the job requires extensive experience of over 5 years and targets working in the Ubisoft Montpellier studio, indicating that the actual development is still in progress and not a dormant project as some might think.
Between the much-talked about Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake and the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, Ubisoft seems to be busy with several heavyweight titles. However, the continued hiring for Beyond Good & Evil 2 confirms that the company is still committed to reviving this legendary title no matter how long it takes.
