After a stunning launch that rocked the gaming industry, Battlefield 6 is set to receive a major update in the coming days that will focus on fixing some of the biggest issues players have noticed since launch, most notably slow progression and the experience point system.
Battlefield 6 has established itself as one of the biggest releases in gaming history, selling more than 7 million copies in just the first three days to surpass all previous parts of the series and compete with the most powerful shooter titles such as Call of Duty, but despite this success, players faced some obstacles, most notably the slow unlocking of weapons and equipment and the difficulty of progressing within the game, which prompted the developers to move quickly.
In an extensive post on the BattlefieldComms account on the X platform, the development team acknowledged the issue and explained the steps that will be taken in the new update, which aims to speed up the pace of progress and make the experience more rewarding without compromising the sense of achievement.
The most notable changes are as follows:
- Increase match completion rewards by 10%.
- Increase daily quest rewards by 40%, to encourage players to participate regularly.
- Reduced experience points required to unlock the first 20 attachments in each weapon.
- Obtaining useful attachments is almost twice as fast as before.
- Missions that used to require ranks 20, 23, and 26 will now start at ranks 10, 15, and 20 respectively to facilitate progression for new players.
- The team explained that it recognizes the frustration caused by some of the challenges and is working on completely redesigning and revising them but they will need more time for development and testing before launch.
The developers indicated that the goal of these changes is to achieve a balance between reward and effort so that the player feels that progress is faster and more satisfying without losing the value of his achievements. The update is scheduled to be released next week or a little earlier depending on the results of quality tests and final review, and the team also confirmed that it is working in parallel to address other issues such as poor visibility, the Bloom system in weapons, and issues with vehicles not appearing.
This update comes after the studio recently announced changes to the Portal mode to reduce server -exploiting XP farms, as well as new leaks confirming that 6 new game modes are on their way to the game in the future.
What do you think of the current progression system, and do you think the increase in XP is enough to correct the experience?
