In a new strategic move, Nintendo of Japan has announced the establishment of a new local entity in Singapore, Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd as part of its plan to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.
According to the official statement posted on the company’s Japanese website, the new branch will be led by Takahiro Miura, the current CEO of Nintendo Korea, who will work to accelerate the pace of business in the region, and the capital allocated to the new branch is about 8 million Singapore dollars, which is more than 6 million US dollars.
Not content with Singapore, the company also revealed its intention to establish a new local entity in Thailand in the near future without revealing additional details about the launch date or management structure.
This move comes at a time of major internal changes in the company, especially in its American branch after Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, announced his retirement at the end of 2025, with Devon Pritchard taking over as president and Satoru Shibata as CEO.
With the company’s success this year thanks to the launch of the Switch 2, it seems clear that Nintendo is entering a new, more ambitious phase with a drive to expand its business globally and solidify its position as one of the most powerful gaming companies in the world.
