More than two months after the game’s launch, Sloclap has announced that the third major update for Rematch has brought cross-play, allowing players from all platforms to more easily face off against each other. While this addition is an important step in expanding the game’s community and speeding up matchmaking, it’s not without its limitations.
In a sub-update released on Friday, the studio clarified that cross-platform progression will not be part of the development plans for now. He stated:
“There are no plans to add cross-platform progression at this time, which means that your progress on one platform will not transfer to another.
This decision means that players planning to move from one platform to another will have to start from scratch, without retaining previous purchases, achievements, or stats. Considering that Rematch is not a free-to-play game, the studio advised players to double-check before making the switch.
While the option to turn Crossplay on or off is available, the team encouraged keeping it on to speed up match search time. However, the lack of cross-progression remains a glaring weakness for many players who were hoping for a more flexible cross-platform experience.
