Despite the huge success of Battlefield 6 since its launch, with sales exceeding 6.5 million copies in just a few days and 750,000 concurrent players on Steam, some technical issues are still plaguing players, most notably the issue of bullets not registering.
In a new post on Xbox Live, Florian Le Bihan, the game’s lead designer, confirmed that the development team is currently working on an official update that addresses the phantom shot bug that players have been experiencing since launch. Le Bihan explained that the team discovered the bug in cases where:
Shots hit the enemy, and blood effects appear, but don’t cause any actual damage.
He added that the issue was occurring intermittently with certain weapons and accessory combinations. The technical cause has already been identified and fixed internally and will be added to the game’s next update.
In a response to a player, Lobihan explained that some cases of lost hit logging may not be due to the game itself, but to a poor internet connection or unstable server performance, and noted that the game alerts players to these cases through performance icons that appear at the top left of the screen.
He also emphasized that this update will not include a modification to the bullet dispersion mechanic, explaining that this is a different aspect of the aiming system and will be dealt with in another update.
Since the launch of Battlefield 6, EA and DICE’s development teams have been tackling bugs at a rapid pace, from odd glitches like ladders and d rones to improving aiming performance and combat interaction, and the upcoming fix looks set to restore confidence to players who have complained about losing scoring during crucial encounters.
We know how frustrating it is to see enemy blood flying and the shot not counting… We’ve fixed this bug. – Florian Loubian
As EA continues to improve the experience and release regular updates, Battlefield 6 seems on track to become one of the most successful recent installments in the series, both in terms of sales and the developers’ quick response to player feedback.
