The latest U.S. video game console sales data for November 2025 shows the PlayStation 5 topping the list of top-selling consoles, surpassing the Switch 2, which came in at No. 2.
According to data from Circana, total monthly spending on consoles fell 27% year-over-year to just $695 million, the worst November figure since 2005, when spending totaled $455 million.
In terms of units, 1.6 million consoles were sold across all platforms in November 2025, the lowest November figure since 1995, when sales totaled just 1.4 million units. Despite the overall decline, the PlayStation 5 managed to top the charts in terms of both units sold and revenue, marking the first time it has returned to the top spot since the launch of the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 came in at No. 2 in terms of units and revenue, continuing its strong performance in the U.S. market despite losing the top spot this month.
NEX Playground came in third in terms of units sold and Xbox Series X|S came in third in terms of revenue. NEX Playground’s dominance is not surprising after it beat the PS5 Ladder in mid-November in the U.S. market.
Other reports indicate that Battlefield 6 is the best-selling game in the United States from the beginning of 2025 to date, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 topped game sales during the month of November 2025.
These figures paint a clear picture of the changing dynamics of the hardware market as the PlayStation 5 continues to prove to be a strong competitor even in the face of a general decline in demand for gaming hardware.
