More than 20 years after the release of the God of War series, one of the most popular PlayStation titles since 2005, the dream of turning it into a TV series seems to be getting closer to realization.
According to NexusPointNews, which previously revealed the Elden Ring movie project, Prime Video’s God of War series will begin filming in March 2026 in Vancouver. The site also confirmed that the casting process for the main roles has already begun.
The series will follow the events of God of War (2018), which means we will see an older version of Kryptos and his relationship with his son Atreus in a world inspired by Nordic mythology.
If this rumor is true, filming will likely begin after the completion of Prime Video’s other project, the Tomb Raider series set to launch in January 2026. The fact that the news coincides with the series’ 20th anniversary in 2025 seems fitting to increase interest in the series, especially with the possibility of a new installment in development.
If the news is confirmed, we may soon hear about the actors who will take on the roles of Kritos, Atreus, and the rest of the characters inspired by Nordic mythology.
