After months of official silence, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is once again being talked about, this time through a large leak circulating among gamers that reveals a 10-minute presentation of a very early version of the game.
The leak first appeared on Reddit’ s GamingLeaksAndRumors forum, where its source described it as a “leaked presentation from Q1 2024.” Its credibility was quickly confirmed when Ubisoft quickly removed it from YouTube citing copyright infringement, confirming that the content was indeed from the title’s internal development phase.
However, users were able to re-upload the video on various sites and it is now available for viewing despite attempts to take it down.
The video begins with an introduction explaining the character of Farah, emphasizing the significant development she received in the remake. Instead of just being a supporting character as in the 2003 version, Farah has become more independent and has a bow to protect herself in a clear shift in the nature of her role in the story.
The show then takes a look at the basic storyline and then moves on to live action motion capture footage showing the actors acting out the scenes before they are converted into 3D models in-game.
The technical quality of the demo is very rudimentary, suggesting an early alpha, but it clearly reveals the breadth of work on the remake since its redevelopment at Ubisoft Montreal.
A notable detail in the demo is the confirmation of a “completely rebuilt from scratch” world and the addition of two new locations that were not present in the original version, suggesting that the remake will not just update the graphics but will offer expanded content and a more in-depth experience.
Given the age of the video, it is natural that many of its elements have changed or evolved, however, it gives the audience the first realistic look at how the game will be reimagined, especially after the project moved to a new team and rebuilt the development from scratch. Although Ubisoft has not issued an official comment yet, the leak reignites the excitement for the remake, especially with reports indicating that a full reveal is imminent.
