In a new interview with Nintendo Insider, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno revealed some simple yet exciting details about the upcoming Nintendo-exclusive horror game known as Project M.
Babieno explained that it is still early to talk about Project M, emphasizing that the team is deliberately keeping the nature of the game under wraps for now, but he promised that the first reveal will be very soon and added that a full reveal could spoil the element of surprise that the team has been building for a while.
Despite this reticence, the executive provided some important hints, most notably that fans of classic horror games will feel immediately familiar with Project M, noting that fans of series such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, as well as psychological games such as Limbo and Eternal Darkness, will find themselves in a familiar home from the first moments.
But the most important element, according to Babieno, is that Project M will introduce a bold shift in horror style, an idea that has never been explored before in any previous horror game. He did not elaborate on the nature of this shift, only emphasizing that it is substantial and not just a superficial addition.
Most excitingly, he emphasized that Project M’s vision can only be realized on Nintendo hardware, suggesting that the game will rely on unique technical or design features associated with the Switch 2 platform, whether in terms of gameplay, interactivity, or psychological presentation.
This talk comes at a time when the studio is also working on supporting its Cronos: The New Dawn game coming to the Switch 2, along with confirmation that the Silent Hill 1 remake is in full production at the studio.
Project M is still one of Bloober Team’s most mysterious projects, but recent announcements suggest that we’re in for a radically different horror experience that could redefine what horror games can offer on Nintendo consoles.
