KRAFTON has officially completed the first closed alpha test for PUBG Black Budget, an extraction-type shooter that combines the genre’s style with PUBG-inspired elements with a mysterious twist.
According to an official statement posted on Steam, the development team explained that the alpha test saw a higher level of interest and participation than expected, allowing them to gather a large amount and variety of player feedback, which the team noted helped evaluate the game’s atmosphere, visual style, and core systems design.
Feedback highlighted a number of areas for improvement, including the clarity of combat and visual perception during encounters, as well as fatigue for some players when repeating rounds, and the team encountered frequent reports of unauthorized software use, prompting them to gradually strengthen security measures and anti-cheat systems throughout the testing period.
Some participants reported instability and sudden crashes, which had a significant impact on the overall testing experience. KRAFTON confirmed that all feedback provided by players is currently being reviewed and analyzed internally.
In terms of overall impression, Black Budget appears to be a solid experience in the extraction genre with smooth gameplay and an attractive visual appearance and is presented as a more accessible option compared to complex games such as Escape from Tarkov, and although the game may not offer radical innovations in the genre, it has the ingredients for a successful launch upon its release.
At the end of the statement, the team announced that they will return to Coli Island and the world of Black Budget at a later stage when the game is in a more mature and polished state, suggesting future testing before the expected launch in 2026.
While players await the next opportunity to return to Black Budget, the results of the first alpha test seem to have given KRAFTON more confidence in the project’s future in the competitive extraction space.
