Take-Two announced in its latest earnings report that Red Dead Redemption 2 has reached a new historical milestone after sales exceeded 79 million copies globally, making it the fourth best-selling game in gaming history in terms of units sold.
Rockstar is one of the most prominent game development companies in the world thanks to its track record of successful titles such as GTA and RDR, and with this latest milestone, the company has two games in the top four best-selling games of all time, a feat no other studio has achieved.
During the recent earnings call, Take-Two revealed that the entire Red Dead series has exceeded 106 million copies sold globally, including 79 million for Red Dead Redemption 2 alone, and analysts’ data confirmed that the game has been the best-selling game in the United States over the past seven years in terms of financial revenues.
It is worth noting that Red Dead Online comes for free with the main game and a standalone version was released in 2020.
