A few weeks after its surprise launch on smartphones, Rockstar has released a new update for Red Dead Redemption on Android and iOS to address a host of technical issues reported by some players, although the overall experience was stable and polished for the majority.
As spotted by players on social media, the update has reached the paid standalone version on the stores as well as the Netflix Gaming version, and the community’s experiences have brought together the highlights of the update, which include fixing the black screen issue that some users encountered, reducing lag and stutter during gameplay, improving graphics quality, and general performance and stability improvements.
Interestingly, a large number of players noted a noticeable improvement in the frame rate after the update, especially on some processors such as the Exynos 2100, which directly reflected on the smoothness of the experience.
These improvements are all the more significant given the success of the Netflix version, which exceeded one million downloads on Android devices, while the paid version, priced around $40, recorded lower numbers on Google Play versus a strong launch on the App Store on launch day.
The move to release Red Dead Redemption on phones was met with widespread interest, both because of the element of surprise and because of the high technical level compared to the size and complexity of the game.
