After a long series of leaks and digital store hints, the official announcement that gamers have been waiting for, the Silent Hill 2 remake, has finally become available on Xbox Series X|S in a move that surprised everyone by being released directly without any prelude or marketing campaign.
The remastered version of Silent Hill 2 dates back to 2024, when Konami teamed up with Bloober Team to reimagine the 2001 classic in a modern way. The remake retells James Sunderland’s journey through the foggy town of Silent Hill in search of his wife who was thought to be dead. The game was a critical success, winning multiple awards and wide praise from fans of the series and new players.
Despite the popularity of the game, it was available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Steam, while rumors about it coming to Xbox kept recurring without confirmation. Today, the Xbox Store settled the matter by officially listing the game, confirming that it is available for purchase immediately without even releasing a new promotion, which is one of the biggest “surprise releases” this year.
Most notably, the base version is being offered at a discounted price of $35 instead of the original $70, with a bundle combining the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f for $80.
Despite the arrival of the game on a new platform, the fate of the Born from a Wish add-on, which players have been asking for for years without getting an official confirmation until now, and with the Bloober team busy developing the remake of Part 1 of the series, players hope that the team will reconsider the content of Silent Hill 2 in the future, especially the character Maria, who is directly related to that add-on.
The release of the game on Xbox is an important step for fans of psychological horror and opens the door for a new audience to experience one of the most famous horror stories in gaming history.
