SEGA has officially announced that Sonic Rumble will be released in November 2025 after a series of delays that lasted for more than a year. The game will be available on Steam for PC as well as the Google Play and App Store on smartphones.
Inspired by the style of competitive RPGs such as Fall Guys, 32 players compete in a series of fast-paced, miniature stages using characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
The newteaser revealed the presence of beloved characters such as Shadow and Cream as well as a pack inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The trailer also included glimpses of future costumes such as Excalibur Sonic and Wave from the Sonic Riders series.
In a post on the game’s blog, the development team confirmed that it listened carefully to the feedback from players who participated in the early tests and made substantial improvements based on the feedback, including simplifying the progression and reward system to be more clear and smooth, redesigning the user interface, improving the starting experience for new players, and adding new competitive features such as special skills and the ability to form playgroups with friends.
The team indicated that the version that will be released in November will be the best version yet, emphasizing that development is ongoing to deliver an experience full of excitement and team interaction.
The return of Sonic Rumble comes at a time when SEGA is seeing increased activity to revitalize the brand with several new projects including the upcoming Sonic Heroes remake and news of future musical and cinematic collaborations.
