After a series of delays and closed testing, SEGA and Sonic Team have confirmed that Sonic Rumble will officially release on November 5, 2025 on Steam, Google Play, and the App Store with pre-registration now open.
The new game offers gameplay inspired by Battle Royale Entertainment games like Fall Guys but with a Sonic Universe theme, where players choose their favorite characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and compete in a series of fun and challenging mini-stages where only one player remains the winner in the end.
Sonic Rumble has been in development for a long time and faced several delays due to the team’s desire to improve the overall experience. During early testing, the game received positive feedback from players, which encouraged the team to continue improving it until its full readiness.
SEGA noted that the team made significant changes based on feedback from beta participants, including redesigning the progression and rewards system to make it smoother, thoroughly updating the user interface and learning mechanism, and adding a skill system and cooperative team feature to increase the competitive nature of the game.
There are still no official plans to release the game on the Switch 2 or other home platforms, but analysts believe that success on mobile and PC could open the door for a subsequent console release, especially given the popularity of Sonic and party games.
The announcement was accompanied by a short trailer on the Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel that showcased the colorful gameplay, interactive stages and fast-paced action that characterize Sonic’s characters.
After a period of silence and delays, Sonic Rumble looks set to be one of the biggest mass-market releases of the fall season. With its lighthearted nature and fun competition, the game could be the most exciting mobile experience for Sonic fans in years.
