According to new data revealed by Shift Up, Stellar Blade’s success continues to escalate at an unprecedented pace, with the game becoming the top PlayStation PC exclusive launch in history, beating out huge names like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and other popular Sony titles
The data shared by the developer via an infographic showed that Stellar Blade achieved 192,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch, compared to 77,000 for Ghost of Tsushima and lower numbers for the rest of the PlayStation exclusives that made it to the platform
This significant difference establishes Stellar Blade as the strongest launch for a PlayStation exclusive on PC since the porting of games to Steam and Epic began.
The game was already a success when it launched on PlayStation 5, but the PC version pushed its popularity to a whole new level, and it seems that Shun Yoshida’s decision to say that he wanted Stellar Blade on PlayStation at all costs finally paid off as PC gamers quickly found their passion for the game as well.
Stellar Blade’s success didn’t stop at the numbers, it was also supported by an official announcement of a sequel 2 in development, confirmation that the series will be multi-platform in the future, additional new content including 3 new endings, and a hint of a Silent Hill f collaboration
All of which further strengthens the brand and lays a solid foundation for the success of Part 2.
With the series moving to multi-platform, it seems very likely that Stellar Blade 2 will have a much larger audience and possibly exceed the success of the original game many times over.
